What better way to learn English than by immersing yourself in American culture in the heart of beautiful southern California? Where else can you find mountains, beaches, deserts and a thriving urban center? This is the place you’ve seen in the movies, where you can go snowboarding in the morning, surfing in the afternoon and enjoy the nightlife of world famous Hollywood all in one day.

You can spend time exploring the famous cultural centers of Los Angeles including the Getty Center, the MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art), the LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art), and the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Enjoy live music ranging from rock to hip-hop to classical. See a play or a sneak preview of the newest Hollywood blockbuster, or even watch one of your favorite TV shows being taped. Visit Mickey and the gang at Disneyland, thrill in the excitement of roller coasters at Magic Mountain, or experience the magic of the movies at Universal Studios Hollywood. LA also has many major league sports teams to cheer on including the Lakers (basketball) the Kings and the Ducks (hockey), and the Dodgers and the Angels (baseball).

Right here in Pasadena you can find works of art from Rembrandt and Van Gough at the Norton Simon Museum, enjoy an evening of live theater at the Pasadena Playhouse, or see the various gardens and one of Gutenberg’s original Bibles at the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens just minutes from our school. Pasadena is a safe and relaxed city that has over 500 restaurants and bars as well as world-class shopping, and is home to the famous Rose Bowl Game and Parade.

One of the many advantages of being a TLI student is being able to participate in all of the extracurricular activities we organize. Students are encouraged to take part in our excursions to the various sporting events, cultural centers and tourist spots mentioned above. We also host school parties for a chance to practice English outside of the classroom and to celebrate American holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving. In addition our staff can make recommendations for exploring and traveling on your own.
